Seaside Trip 2017 – Day 7: Sayonara

The Pits: Packing up, driving home.

The Peaks: We went to Donut Hole this morning to grab donuts for breakfast. This was the newer location at Inlet Beach, and was about 15 minutes closer than the other location. After breakfast, we all spent the morning at the beach, and it was probably the best beach visit of the trip. It was cloudy so we had the chance to grab a few nice family pics by the ocean.

We headed back up to the room around noon to have sandwiches by the pool, then we started getting our stuff packed up. We’d planned to stay one more night, but in typical fashion, we decided to leave today in hopes of avoiding the weekend traffic. We were loaded and on the road by 2:30pm. We had to stop a couple times for gas, one bathroom break, and then a dinner break at Whataburger (the cold one, which had really slow service). We made it home by 11pm and had the kids in bed and the car unpacked by 11:30. It was great to sleep in our own bed and have our Saturday free.

Today’s Japanese word: Sayonara (sigh-oh-gnar-ah) – Goodbye!
