Whitney and Beth, two girls that Traci works with, had planned another shower for her at her place of employment. Unbeknownst to Traci, Whitney had invited me, my mom and sister, and Traci’s mom and sister (and niece) to attend the shower as well. So, I think she was pleasantly surprised when we all showed up.
At this point, this kid has more clothes and underwear than I do. (I’ve still got an edge on the little peckerhead when it comes to toys, though…and he best not forget it!) My work friends keep reminding me that I’ll soon become invisible once Turner gets here. Although I contend that I am already invisible!
For example, last week my boss invited a random songwriter dude to come and perform some songs for everyone in the company. This basically just entails this person bringing their guitar and doing a few songs for everyone to hear in the studio. Honestly, I don’t get much out of it, and I knew I’d get more work done with everyone out of my hair for 15 minutes or so.
So, I played hooky. My bosses came down and summoned everyone to the studio, and I gave one of my “be right there” statements and then I just sat back down and continued working.
Later in the day, Aaron came in and was telling me how he’d had to give another guy a lecture because the guy had missed the performance. I let Aaron finish his story and then informed him that I wasn’t there either. “Yes you were there!” he maintained. But no, I was not.
So, I guess I’m not really invisible…I can just make people think they see me when I’m not really there.
