Part of the boys’ morning routine now is sitting on the kitchen mat and drinking milk while I’m getting breakfast ready. It was a chilly morning today, so we made sure we had some covers handy.

The house next door to us caught fire several months back. It’s still standing but the windows are all boarded up and the family is temporarily living elsewhere until they can get the house repaired. Stella is the dog that
