Thanksgiving 2017 – Deer Hunters

The Pits: I’m a bit ashamed and embarrassed that I didn’t get any real family pics at Thanksgiving, only this pic of Weston on top of Mamaw’s and Papaw’s roof.

On our way back from Winchester, a deer ran into the side of our Pilot. We saw it on the opposite side of the road, and I slowed down and honked the horn, which prompted it to dart across the road and slam into the driver’s side. It dented up the front fender, door, and rear door, leaving clumps of hair in the side paneling. We were thankful it didn’t come through the window. We pulled over and hunted for the deer to make sure it wasn’t still in the road, but it was gone and we heard it traipsing through the dark woods. The kids remarked how fast their hearts were beating.

The Peaks: We had nice visits with Traci’s family in Lynchburg for lunch, then with my family in Winchester for dinner. Papaw is recovering from last week’s hip replacement surgery, and he was able to get around pretty good.
